Resume - Volunteer Work and Professional Affiliations
Volunteer experience should be included if it supports your career objectives or if it emphasizes key skills that you wish to highlight to a potential employer. Volunteering is an excellent way for students to put some sort of work experience under their belt. Many colleges and universities look at volunteering positively and so do employers who seek employees who are not only productive, but also integral members of society.Professional memberships and affiliations can also be included in your resume. It is important though to sort through your extra- curricular activities and only list those that either have a professional bend or show skills and qualities you wish to highlight to a potential employer. Particularly mention leadership positions, special positions, any awards received and language skills. Exclude religious and political affiliations and focus on a professional image.
